Below are some frequently asked questions about UTTC Housing.
Q: Do you have to be married to live in a house, apartment or duplex?
A: No. You may be a single parent with child(ren). However, if you have a significant other, then, yes, you must be legally married at the time and be able to submit a copy of your marriage license along with your housing application.
Q: How is eligibility determined?
A: You will need to have completed the following:
- Completed admission requirements
- Adequate funding
- Enroll full-time at UTTC and maintain full-time status
- Must be legal custodian of the child or children that will reside with you. Guardians, foster, or adopted parents must provide legal documentation.
- Couples must be legally married with custody of child or children to reside with you, otherwise; a single parent with custody of child or children to reside with you
Q: What are the types of housing units?
A: On Campus (Three Bedroom) Houses

Q: How do I apply for UTTC Housing?
A: UTTC provides family housing to full-time traditional students until they graduate with their first degree or first certificate; whichever comes first. The sooner you complete the Admission Packet which includes the Housing Application, will increase your chances of receiving UTTC Housing. Please submit the Housing Application to the Admissions Office. You can also fill out the Online Application!
Q: How are housing placements made?
A: First-year housing placements are made based on academic major, age, and mutual interests. The Director weighs all information provided by the student on their housing contract to determine the best roommate possible. There are times however, such as when rooms are full, that it is not always possible to match up students as we would like to.
Q: What is the length of residency in UTTC Housing?
A: Until the first certificate or two year degree is achieved; whichever comes first.
Q: Is there housing for four year degree seeking students?
A: Currently, until more housing is built; there are minimum housing units available to specifically accommodate the four year students. You may request to be placed on this waiting list. Housing is not guaranteed to be ready by your expected two year graduation timeframe.
Q: What is the guest policy?
A: Except in the case of a family emergency, if you have a visitor who intends to stay overnight or for a few days, a Visitors Request Form (VRF) must be completed. Any person(s) found to be in on-campus housing without proper prior authorization (authorized visitor request form) are considered unauthorized guests and will be subject to immediate expulsion from campus. Said violators may not be allowed to reenter campus at the discretion of UTTC officials.
Q: When is housing terminated?
A: Housing is notified by the Enrollment offices of student withdrawals whether voluntary or involuntary in regards to you or your spouse, if applicable. Housing sends a notice to vacate letter that allows no more than seven (7) days from the terminated date to vacate the unit. (See the Registrar office for more details on the withdrawal processes).

Q: What does UTTC provide for housing units?
A: United Tribes provides furniture, e.g., washer/dryer, refrigerator, stove, couch/loveseat, kitchen table and chairs, full and twin size beds with bed frames, and dressers. (This excludes: UTTC Washington Court units because of inventory purposes).
Q: How long does it take to get UTTC Housing?
A: It varies. In order to get into family housing it mostly depends on the size of your family and the availability of the needed type of unit at the time of need. We strongly emphasize the need to apply for UTTC college and housing at least a semester before you begin to attend and apply at least 10 months prior to arrival for public housing in the Burleigh and Morton County surrounding area. Q: What do I need to bring?
Q: How much is my rent and when is it due?
A: $1,500 a semester or $300 a month (only for those required to pay monthly)
Q: How can I pay for rent?
A: You can ensure your rent is covered by having FAFSA and other additional student financial assistance, e.g., tribal funding, WIA, Voc Rehab, Housing Choice Voucher(Sec 8), scholarship monies, student work program called Leadership through Experience. See the Financial Aid office(s).
Q: What expenses are included with rent?
A: UTTC covers the electricity; heat, water, and cooling. Cable, meals for the Solo Dorm and Kateri Hall tenants, and Rresidential Life residents are all included in your rent.

Q: What are UTTC campus rules?
A: The Student Handbook can be viewed on the my.uttc.edu website. You will need to log into your account. The handbook can be found on the Campus Life tab.
Q: Who can live with me?
A: Two adults (only if married); otherwise; a single parent family that consists of one adult as the parent or legal guardian of one or more children. No exceptions.
