Horses become living, cultural canvas8 December 2004

Here's one of UTTC's cultural events from Native American Month. Wellness/Culture Specialist Scott Davis organized a "horse painting" for several students and staff members November 9. The result is what you see on Casey, a pony belonging to Kathy Johnson, UTTC Enrollment Services director. Casey, and one of Johnson's other horses, stood as living canvasses for finger-painting by students Kayla Looking Horse and Stacey Speedis. The activity has a tribal-historical basis and serves to bring participants in contact with the horse culture. Not to worry, the watercolor paint washes off easily as the horses go about their outdoor lives.
