MON-DAK Tournament Summaries18 November 2005

UTTC Men Thunderbirds
NDSCS-Wahpeton beat MSU-Bottineau 120-77 to tip-off the Montana-Dakota tournament. Miles Community College defeated BSC 118-70. Williston State beat Lake Region 86-77.
The United Tribes Thunderbirds Men's team capped the day with a 87-72 win over Dawson Community College. Pat Cole led the T-Birds scoring 25 points followed by Maverick Valandra with 16 and Raoul Diffo 12. Eleven of 13 players scored, making for a great team effort.

On day two, BSC defeated MSU-Bottineau 130-126 in overtime. Dawson prevailed 103-89 over Lake Region. In the semifinals, Miles beat Wahpeton 106-96.
Williston State hung on to beat United Tribes 85-81. Four players scored double digits for the T-Birds led by Matt Red Bear with 18, who shot 4/7 in 3 pointers. Raoul Diffo and Maverick Valandra scored 14 each, followed by Alden Spoonhunter with 13 points and 8 assists. Pat Cole had 7 points and 6 rebounds.
On day three Lake Region beat MSU-Bottineau 98-81 for seventh place; Dawson over BSC 92-73 for fifth.
Wahpeton beat United Tribes 73-66 for third place. Wesley Bearstail led the T-birds with 18 off the bench. Raoul Diffo scored 14. Nine players scored points: Cole Glade 8 and Pat Cole with 7. Maverick Valandra led the T-Birds in rebounding pulling in 7 boards.
Miles Community College became the 2005-06 MON-DAK Pre-Season Tournament champions defeating Williston State College 87-84.
UTTC Lady Thunderbirds
The United Tribes Lady T-birds dropped their opener against Lake Region State College 136-59. Melissa Buffalo led the team with 17 points, followed by Jesse Big Crow's 11. Mia Spoonhunter scored 9.
In the second round, NDSCS-Wahpeton handed them a second loss 92-46. Jesse Big Crow scored 24 with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Jessica Red Bear scored 7 with 6 rebounds and Mia Spoonhunter had 6 points and 5 boards. Whitney Hale led the team in rebounding pulling in 7.
In the final round, the Lady Thunderbirds beat Dawson Community College 73-71 for seventh place. Nine out of 10 players scored, led by Jesse Big Crow's 28 points, 15 rebounds and 5 steals. Melissa Buffalo scored 14 and had 11 boards followed by Corrina Buffalo with 10 points. Whitney Hale had 9.
