Faculty Talk9 November 2005
LISA AZURE and LEAH HAMANN, Teacher Education faculty presented at the North Dakota Association of Young Children Conference held in Fargo on October 29. Their presentation entitled, "Persona Dolls" provided attendees an effective, non-threatening and enjoyable way to raise equality issues and counter stereotypical and discriminatory thinking with young children. The dolls and their stories are powerful tools for exploring, uncovering and confronting bias. They help children express their feelings and ideas, think critically, challenge unfair treatment and develop empathy with people who are different to themselves.

PERSONA DOLLS created by UTTC students in the Multicultural Education course were displayed during the presentation.
