LEARNING THE STEP: United Tribes Preschool students Tanner Meyers and Razalia McCloskey try a kahomni dance April 29 during the United Tribes Child Development Center Preschool Wacipi (powwow). Kahomni is a general term for a social dance for couples. The two youngsters were among a group of 23 honored graduates of the preschool. Other songs were played for round and inter-tribal dances, and the ever-popular non-Native Tooty-Tah. The event included a meal for graduates, families and friends. A prayer was offered by the distinguished Lakota elder Isaac Dog Eagle of Standing Rock.
