Lady Thunderbirds Finish Best Season Ever04 March 2009
BISMARCK (UTN) - Congratulations to the United Tribes Lady Thunderbirds basketball team for their second place finish March 2 in the NJCAA Region 13 playoffs in Bismarck. The Lady Thunderbirds ended their best season ever with a 14/18 record.
Among their most satisfying wins were two victories over cross-town rival Bismarck State, one of which came during the first round of the regional tournament, giving the team its first-ever post-season victory.
The Lady Thunderbirds were coached by Daryl Bearstail, assisted by Ruth Buffalo-Zarazua.
Members of the team are: Nevada Allen, Cannonball, ND, Elementary Education; Sekoya Bighorn, Rocky Boy, MT, Elementary Education; Tami Miller, Bismarck, ND, Nursing; Carolyn Morrison, Crow Agency, MT, Criminal Justice; Kami Otter Robe, Rock Creek, SD, Art-Art Marketing; Jenna Skunk Cap, Browning, MT, Elementary Education; and Lynda Wolf, New Town, ND, Nursing.
Three were singled out for recognition by the Mon-Dak Conference and the NJCAA Region.
