Position Title: Economics Instructor - Part Time (Temporary)

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Under the general supervision of the Vice President of the Academic, Career & Technical Education, the instructor performs the following duties:
- Instructs college students based upon the master course schedule, degree plans and curricula approved for economics and business education by the UTTC Curriculum Committee and the Vice President of Academic, Career & Technical Education.
- Develops culturally-relevant curricula, lesson plans and other postsecondary coursework materials that achieve student competencies and meet industry-standards. The instructor should be prepared to develop online courses and/or instruct the class.
- Assists with the assessment, registration and advising of students.
- Monitors and reports student attendance and academic progress daily, at mid-terms and at the end of Finals week through the Jenzabar system.
- Refers students to appropriate academic support and student/campus life services.
- Reviews and makes recommendations to the department chair regarding the acquisition of instructional materials and supplies.
- Participates in student learning assessments, student advising, program evaluation, classroom observations, institutional committees, professional development, vocational club, and other activities required by the institution.
- Participate in graduation commencement wearing gap and gown.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
General office and classroom conditions. Normal working hours are from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with one hour lunch break. For flexible scheduling, arrangements will be made with the Department chair and the Vice President of Academic, Career & Technical Education.
UTTC instructors must be sensitive to the cultures of the students enrolled at the college, must be willing to learn about those cultures, and must be willing to integrate multi-cultural perspectives where appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Individual must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Economics. Masters degree preferred. At least three (3) years full-time, paid teaching experience in economics or related field. Must have a teaching certificate from the state of North Dakota and must be certifiable by the N.D. Department of Career and Technical Education.

Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.
If selected for the position, the applicant is subject to a complete background investigation with favorable determination.
