Position Title: Safety Director

Will coordinate activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies and advertising for establishment.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
To provide professional customer service. Coordinate, implement and evaluate all safety related functions for the college following the UTTC Emergency Operations Plan and Team Training Manual.
Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Student and Campus Services, performs the following duties:
- Manage, supervise and conducts employee(s) performance reviews.
- Advise the Vice President of Student & Campus Services in short and long-term planning, in support of the Student & Campus Services Strategic Plan.
- Remain current and adhere to legal requirements that affect students in higher education, i.e. FERPA, HIPAA, ADA, OSHA, CLERY, WSI and/or all governing guidelines related to the UTTC community relating to safety.
- Project, develop, and manage operational budget(s).
- Prepare and submit accurate reports, documentation and correspondence in a timely manner and to assume the follow-up responsibilities.
- To actively participate in the “high risk” crisis management team that provides safety services in meeting the individual need(s) of the student and in support of their family system as needed.
- To implement and/or enhance professional development opportunities.
- To cooperatively interact with networking systems on/off campus.
- Establish a central repository and safety trailer for all safety related documents, reports, and procedures.
- Maintaining and promoting general safety.
- Other duties as assigned by V.P. of Student & Campus Services.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Supervises one (1) Part-time Safety Officer
WORKING CONDITIONS:
General office conditions and mobility on and off campus (in the field) with UTTC supplied transportation. Normal working hours are from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm with one hour lunch Monday through Friday. Overtime will be required on occasion and as situations demand with some weekend work if needed. Will need to occasionally travel to attend workshops/conferences.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Will need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend and stoop. Ability to handle stressful emergency/crisis situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years Safety Experience
- Current/Valid North Dakota Driver’s License at hire.
- 2 years Supervisory experience
- CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor Certified or obtained within 3 months within date of hire.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors Degree in Social Science or Law Enforcement Administration of Justice or related field.
- FEMA training
- OSHA training
- Knowledge of Workplace Safety in North Dakota

Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.
