SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Academic, Career & Technical Services and Allied Health Department Chair, this position performs the following duties:
- Instructs learners based upon the curriculum as approved by the Allied Health Department Chair, curriculum Development Committee and the Vice President of Vocational and Academic Services.
- Facilitates campus-based and/or online course(s) using the UTTC Learner Management System (my.UTTC.edu). Instructors must be sensitive to the cultures of the learners they teach, learn about those cultures, and integrate culturally appropriate and culturally relevant material when appropriate.
- Evaluates learners’ progress and motivates individuals to achieve optimal learning outcomes.
- Maintains course data in current and accurate status.
- Meets academic data reporting responsibilities per the Academic Calendar, Faculty Handbook, and other relevant College policies.
- Participates in assessment, professional development, and other activities required by the institution.
- Serves learners as a secondary advisor. This role is to be taken seriously. Instructors enter into an advisement relationship with learners with regard to academics and other topics insofar as these relationships do not interfere with other helping and/or therapeutic relationships those learners have with the college.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Adjunct instructors are to conduct class meetings according to the course schedule and in the place designated on the schedule. Class meetings must be held for the duration specified in the schedule. Adjunct instructors teaching online courses will maintain a presence in the course through consistent participation in the discussion forum and email as appropriate. Normal working hours will vary according to need assuring that work and reporting are complete in a timely manner according to the course schedule and the college calendar.
Adjunct instructors teaching online are expected to have stable and reliable Internet access and meet the minimum technical requirements listed for students. This includes an up-to-date web browser, currently supported operating system, and Microsoft Word and Excel programs. Adjunct instructors teaching in a face-to-face situation may use campus computer labs to enter student grades and attendance if needed. Coursework, grades, and student attendance documentation will be maintained in the MyUTTC LMS.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a Masters degree from an accredited College or University in the content area or related field under which the instructor is hired to teach. Licensed Addiction Counselor certification is preferred. Experience teaching online is preferred for those applying. If no experience, must be willing to participate in a training program offered by the College.
