Position Title:  Children's Dwelling Director
Department:  Child Development Center
Reports Directly To:  Center Administrator
Opening Date:  June 1, 2010
Closing Date:  Open Until Filled
Salary:  $DOE

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Center Administrator, performs some or all of the following duties:
  1. Responsible for program planning, supervision and day-to-day activities.
  2. Responsible for maintaining adequate enrollment/staffing, health, attendance, nutrition program and other related records as required.
  3. Responsible for monthly, quarterly, annual and special report on children as necessary.
  4. Responsible for licensing of Daycare Centers.
  5. Holds staff meetings on a regular basis.
  6. Conduct in-service as per curriculum development and goals/objectives.
  7. Responsible for hiring and firing of staff and other disciplinary issues.
  8. Maintains all managerial duties of an office area.
  9. Complete staff evaluations.
  10. Responsible for screening, scheduling, supervision and conduct of staff members.
  11. Cooperate with the Licensing Department and other agencies designated by the department in efforts to improve the quality care and competence of personnel in the centers.
  12. Responsible for ordering of supplies and submitting work order requests.
  13. Plan and conduct parent meetings on a monthly basis.  Communicate with parents on up-coming events and schedules.
  14. Be familiar with State Daycare Regulations as they apply to the Child Development Center and attend any meetings related to regulation requirements.
  15. Responsible for the Lunch Program reporting.
  16. Serve on committee(s) as requested and communicate with campus. ie. Hands-on meetings.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned relating to my job.

INDEPENDENCE OF ACTION:

Must make good rational decisions regarding the safety of children at all times.

The ability to be a mentor for childcare providers.

The ability to interact in the nurturing of children.

Responsible for decisions regarding safety of children in the daycare facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Infant/Toddler Education or related field. Master’s degree preferred.  Must have prior experience in a supervisory position specifically in a toddler daycare center.  Must be able to discipline in a positive manner.  Have skills in conflicts and have good communication skills.  Must have a good computer skills.  Must be able to pass background check.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must complete the North Dakota Self Certification form for Early Childhood Staff/Childcare Providers as part of the application process. Applicant must also meet the criteria for Center Director as determined by Burleigh County Childcare Licensing.  Applicant must successfully pass a background check.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Supervise teachers and other support staff in the daycare centers.
