Position Title:  ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNER TEACHER
Department:  Theodore Jamerson Elementary School
Reports Directly To:  Principal, Elementary School

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Theodore Jamerson Elementary School Principal, the English Language Learner (ELL)/Title VII Teacher will work cooperatively and collaboratively with the principal, TJES classroom teachers and other instructional staff in grades K-8.  The ELL/Title VII teacher position requires a combination of program coordination of student assessment and teaching of ELL/Title VII students.  The ELL/Title VII teacher will accomplish the following:
  1. Implement Title VIII Grant.
  2. Assist with the enrollment of new students.
  3. Assess the language proficiency of all new students.
  4. Annual progress assessment of ELL/Title VII students.
  5. Develop an accommodation plan in collaboration with the classroom teacher for all identified students.
  6. Meet with classroom teachers to assess the educational needs of all students.
  7. Cooperatively schedule activities for ELL/Title VII students and staff.
  8. Select grade level appropriate ELL/Title VII instructional materials and implement the ELL/Title VII curriculum.
  9. Maintain ELL/Title VII files on all identified ELL/Title VII students.
  10. Attend STAT meetings when an ELL/Title VII student is referred.
  11. Provide a quarterly progress report on the student's academic progress and social skills 
  12. Develops and presents instructional workshops to the TJES staff, parents, and college staff. 
  13. Enhances course and program curricula and services based upon instructor’s feedback. 
  14. Coordinates all ELL/Title VII extracurricular activities.
  15. Performs other duties related to the educational goals of TJES.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

North Dakota licensure in elementary education with ESL/Bilingual education endorsement preferred.  Must be willing to obtain ESL/Bilingual Education endorsement within 2 years.  Experience working with Native American and multicultural students.  Ability to work within a diverse work environment.  Ability to manage, coordinate and collaborate within an elementary setting.  Knowledge of second language preferred.
