UTTC Cross Country
Welcome to the UTTC "Thunderbirds" Cross Country
The United Tribes Technical College Cross (UTTC) Country Program is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which serves two-year junior and community colleges throughout the country.
REGION
UTTC is a member of Region 13, which is comprised of schools in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Upper-Michigan and Wisconsin. United Tribes is currently the only school to offer collegiate cross country at the junior college level in Region 13.
SCHEDULE AND EXPOSURE
The UTTC cross country schedule generally includes meets throughout the state of North Dakota, and other locations throughout the region. United Tribes for the most part, competes against four-year NAIA schools (such as Minot State, Dickinson State, Jamestown State, etc.). Competing against four-year schools gives our runners exposure to 4 year schools for a possible running opportunity after their years at United Tribes.
PRACTICE AND MEETS
The cross country team usually practices about two hours a day, five to six days a week. Practices are held on and off campus. There are various running trails throughout the city of Bismarck, as well as some nice scenery outside of town. The season runs from early August until late October/early November, depending on the post-season. Student-athletes must maintain academic eligibility to represent UTTC in cross country meets. Running courses at the collegiate level are usually 8K (Approx. 5 miles) for men and 5k (Approx 3.1 miles) for women, but can vary depending on the host school. The National Junior College Cross Country Meet will be a 5 mile course for men, and 3.1 miles for women.
